“I’ve worked in IT for a dozen years now and during that time I’ve attended probably 15-20 training courses.  This was definitely one of the better courses that I’ve had.  Before I was in IT, I was a teacher for 8 years—I know what it takes to produce quality instruction.”

Both the CSM and PMI-ACP are important certifications in the industry. The CSM is designed to promote and expand scrum in the industry, to train new people and get them Started (quoting the Scrum Alliance Website):

A CSM Course is Only the First Step. Becoming agile is a lifelong journey. Incorporating Scrum principles and practices into your world of work takes diligence, patience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The PMI ACP is not intended to be a training tool or a first step. Is for people who want to (quoting the PMI site):

Demonstrate to employers your level of professionalism in Agile practices of project management.
Increase your professional versatility.
Hold a certification that is more credible than existing entry-level, training or exam-only based offerings

Different courses, different objectives. I hope this helps you decide if you want to take a CSM or if ACP is something you might want to pursue.

” This is a fantastic deal for one of Joseph’s classes. His fun, interactive exercises illustrate complex content and kept the group wide awake and involved. If he doesn’t do his car design based story-mapping exercise then ask him to slip it in. It was great to watch the evolution of the group. One guy in particular had been burned badly in a scrum-gone-wrong experience in the past justifiable reservations, by the end he was openly exploring the opportunities and ideas that Agile PM brings, even in a Waterfall context.”

“I just spent the last 2 days at an agile training course. I have to tell you, it was really eye opening, I feel energized.  I actually feel like I have a better deeper understanding of what agile

really means, not just agile though, we also learned about Lean and something called Kanban, which I had never heard about before. I had 7 other members from the DOL that also participated, and we are already making plans to do a debrief and figure out where we really want to start. It is a little bit scary, but it is something that we absolutely need to do. It is important that the leadership embrace the change, not only because of the economy right now but because it really is the right thing to do…Now after spending 2 days with Whitewater Projects I really feel that I am in a much better place to convey the message not only to the IS leadership but also to the Executive Leadership team of which I am a member.

“Thank you very much to Whitewater Projects. It has been great and I look forward to learning even more!”

“Marcus Bailey CIO Washington State DOL”
